Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR 1502)

Styrene Butadiene Rubber, commonly known as SBR, is manufactured through polymerization under high pressure and temperature of Styrene and Butadiene monomers. The 1502 is specifically a cold emulsion polymer. This one of the most widely used synthetic rubbers. This polymer material has other names such as butadiene styrene resin, Buna S, 1 and 3-butadiene styrene copolymer, Europrene, Ameripol Synpol, Kralex, Plioflex, Polysar, Solprene, Nipol, and Copo Carbomix.

Styrene butadiene rubber has lower mechanical properties than NR and does not crystallize due to traction like NR. Therefore, it is weaker than natural rubber, even if reinforced with soot or other materials.

The final form of soluble styrene butadiene rubber rarely contains more than 2% of non-rubber material in its structure, while the emulsion type may contain a maximum of 5% emulsifier or soap and a maximum of 10% non-rubber material.
